Catnip Criminal
Solo | Unity 2D | 1-week sprint
As my first public 2D game, there was a lot that I learned from this, but also a lot that I feel went well. Namely, the 2 standard enemies that can be encountered on each level. I feel that their AI, detection ranges, and attacks all turned out well. Alternatively, the way I made the terrain caused a lot of collision errors that I feel I fixed in later projects.
Willy Nilly: The Magic Tower
Solo | Unity 3D
This project was the first actual game I've made in 3D. I say this because, I have posted another 3D project before this, but that was much more of a simulation rather than a game. The main difference being that this project has an objective. What this game does well is the firing of projectiles in 3D and compared to the other mentioned project, this game's world is much smaller.
FreezR-Burn
Solo | Unity 2D
This project, I applied a lot of what I learned from Catnip Criminal and the gameplay is much smoother. A lot less collsion boxes were used for terrain tiles, enemies spawned pseudo-randomly, and the player was given options to customize their experience (controls and sound).
Urban Engines: Baltimore Drift
Team | Unity | 95% code contribution | Group 2D
This game is the first project where I worked collaboratively with others (4 others specifically) to create a game. Furthermore, this game was created in response to B-360's request for a game that was both educational and fun.
Though this was a group project, the rest of my team was art focused. While they did help a little, this left me in charge of most of the code behind the game. The main challenge with this game was surprisingly the physics of the side-scroller (fun) section. In past projects, I would normally have a character that would stop the instant the forward/backward control wasn't being pressed however for this game, we wanted the bike keep moving if the player stopped pressing a directional control.
